Virtual Facilitation

 Overview:

There was a need for training to assist with the transition from in-person instructor lead training to virtual instructor lead training. This topic is the first in a multi-series of training to help our team of facilitators to develop skills for a virtual setting.
The main objectives were:

My Responsibilities: Instructional Designer, SME, Facilitator

Tools Used: PowerPoint, Articulate Rise360, Mindmeister, Coolor

Audience: Training Team

My Process:

First, I gathered feedback on the knowledge and comfort level of virtual facilitation the team already had.  The feedback identified that none had experience with it and all felt out of their comfort zone. This feedback gave me a starting point.

Next, I created an Action Map to gather main ideas from my previous experience as a virtual facilitator and key actionable objectives the trainers would need to get started. Then, I created a Storyboard using PowerPoint with the frame work of each topic, on its own slide, with detailed speaker notes. Speaker Notes serve as talking points and supplemental information for the final deliverable. Once the Storyboard in PowerPoint was complete, I then transferred it into Articulate Rise360.

Laid the foundation for the main learning objectives of the course.

Laying foundation

Storyboard originally created in PowerPoint with a few basic key elements and detailed speaker notes. I used this as the frame work/storyboard for the finished product.

Transitioned from PowerPoint into Articulate Rise 360. I used a blank template and added the main topics first, then sub topics, then graphics, and lastly color scheme. I used the Coolor tool to select my color palette.
